The aim of this project is develop knowledge discovery applications using a Grid Computing infrastructure, which will be used to mine the databases of the INFOSEG System, coordinated by the Federal Agency of Public Security. The development will use an existing tool to support the data mining applications with Grids, called SmartBaseG, and that uses the OurGrid platform to parallel the application. OurGrid is a open source tool developed by Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), and is available using the GPL License. Although the project focus is the knowledge discovery using a Grid, it is also an objective to get subsidies to help the evolution of the technology ,

studying the possibility of generalize the format replication and transformation of different databases using a Grid. This project is sponsored by the FINEP and HP Brazil, and it has been developed with the OurGrid research group of the UFCG.

Main activities: team coordination, activities definition, schedule management, and data mining.
